Just a friendly word of advice... Genie will be a great machine for classes and sewing light to medium weight fabrics. If you decide you really love sewing, I would get an old (all metal) Kenmore. They're more durable and can handle heavier fabrics. Your Genie has plastic gears. Happy sewing!
I sew because: I'm trying to be sustainable in my love of clothes, and creative in my love of sustainaility.
Dilemma: Muslin, at least for me, means too many steps between beginning and end...in other words, never finising (at least in my book.) Plus, theres all this wasted fabric...
BUT, No one can make a perfect garment the first time around. In fact, the fear of not acheiving perfection is what kept me from going for it years ago.
Answer: the wearable toile!
She looks comfy-cozy in her new home. I love the little bird on top...my Genie will get one too!
ReplyDeleteHey, wait, Genie was NEVER a doorstop. (That was my Necchi Lydia.) Genie was a paperweight.
