This cape is going to be more remeniscent of the Sherlock Holmesian styles of Victorian era gentleman's fashion than anything "Mod," despite its title in Diana Rupp's book.
Here is the lining-in real life its more burgandy and less brown. Sewing with satin is really fun, actually, although a little more challenging than wool.

And fun to wear!

Dont I look mysterious and dangerous? Like the manager of a Shanghai opium den a hundred years ago?

Maybe its just me.

Anyway, that will be hidden within a brusque exterior of TWO layers of wool. Yes, folks, I underlined! Cidell explained the basic concept to me when we met up, and I realized it doesnt have to be so complicated. This is actually the same technique used in the leopard print Marie blogged about here.

The muddy brown fabric that is too gross a color on me to see the light of day has been repurposed as the underlining, sandwiched between the solemn grey exterior, and the wine colored lining below.
Its almost like a metaphor for the East India Company!

That last line made me lol. I'm very curious to see how the capelet will turn out!
