Im sorry to say I spent more time buying fabric this week than sewing it.
1. (With the exception of a super expensive Echino Japanese linen blend which torments me so much it deserves its own post)....I bought the most expensive fabric I've ever bought...15$ a yard. I keep telling myself not go go there, but I whipped myself up into a luxe fabric frenzy, and convinced myself nothing else would do for the Anda.
But after washing it (a lovely batik rayon)...
(crap -picture missing!)
Do y'all think it looks too hippie elementary school teacher? I went to a pretty hippie elementary school, so I my sense of style may have been impacted at a delicate age... (For ex, the leaves pictured here are from the ginko tree- which I know because I did rubbings with chalk of said leaves in said elementary school.)
Plus, from what I've noticed of the clientele and fabric choices, my fabric store of choice caters largely to hippie elementary school teachers, given its location, so that is another risk factor.
Oh well...there is nothing to do but to sew and see, I guess.
But having spent so much on it, I have to do....a MUSLIN! (dammit!) But because this gal no longer makes muslins out of muslin...
I had to do MORE fabric shopping, of course.
Scrap did me well, as it turned out! for 7 bucks in total, I bought...
-a couple of options for a rayon Anda muslin-

I think I'll go with the plaid for now-because it goes with all the belts I have.
I think I'll use the blue for Diana Rupp's "Knockout Knickers" (again with the names! hereinafter to be referred to as "short pants")before getting into my stiped pinwhale courderoy purchased for this particular project.

I also got *quite* a lot of buttons (to be shared with one of my houseguests, who has his own button projects in mind)
-shirting in multiple colors

(though peices too small for anything I have in mind yet)maybe kids clothes? I dunno...
-stripes for shorts, hopefully!

-seersucker

(on my wishlist for a while- Im hoping I have enough for the romper project, which is looming!)

-3 yards of some random ugly shit- so ugly it is not pictured here, with a design that looks like fingerprints- I think I might have biometrics on the brain thanks to work.
- 5 whole yards of this relatively unattractive jersey-

with a gorgeous hand-perfect for that Simplicity dress I had in mind...

or maybe this BBW dress Ive been avoiding? (much easier)

or another ballet neck shirt?
or an Anda frock?
or all of the above--I mean, 5 freaking yards!
Conclusions- Scrap is awesome. My stash is awesome in its ever growing potential. My project planning skills are not so awesome. So----all of you out there in blog land- if you see me in nothing but green and brown splothcy knit in September, you know why.
