Muslin making is hard.

I hate muslin. As you know. Even when its IKEA home dec. fabric I'll never use for anything.

The steps! the ironing! the guesswork! It all requires fortification of the mind and body, as can be seen above.

Just look at all this tedium...

If you ever wondered how someone traces something from something transparent and wrinkely to something opaque and floppy, the answer is....with tools, sweat, and tears.

What a mess!

But, the result...so far...might just be worth it.

Modeled by Bettie- the newest addition to my sewing arsenal. She came from an Oakland streetcorner, lying in yesterday's trash, sideways... and she is somehow EXACTLY my measurements. Her posture, admittedly leaves something to be desired, (having succumbed to some disintegration about her middle, as is the wont of home-made dress forms.)

Arms, collar, and lapel adjustments are all that remain!

That, and picking out fabric.....

  1. Bettie! So awesome, I was just thinking about if you had a sewing body (what are they called?) How much do they run if you have to buy em?
