So many projects, so little time...

My coat progress is basically...nothing so far. I got muslin, the pattern, came up with a price range for wool (4.5 yards of wool! 3 yds lining! 1 yd interfacing! 2 pretty buttons! heavy weight muslin! and a Colette pattern-- It may be optimistic to try to make my lady grey for under 60$.)

With the best of intentions, and a newly organized sewing space, I got down to business, and realized I cant find any of my tracing tools, and wouldn't know what to do with them if I had them...
I don't understand how anyone traces pattern pieces. I understand carbon paper, sort of, but what if your fabric is dark? I don't get it. You sewing folks are crazy. If I'm ever going to make this coat, I think I'm going to have to go to the fabric store and ask silly questions. I'm dreading that, though because those poor salespeople keep trying to convince me to keep it simple with tunic tops and a line skirts at this stage in my seamstressing...but do I listen? (no) do I buy fabric and design projects like I'm on project runway? (yes).

In my frustration I made an ill fitting pair of underwear that I decline to model for you all...

So with that in mind, I'm going to leave off coat making for the moment and...

1. buy some new tracing tools, and just try to trace/cut out my pattern pieces for the Lady Grey. from muslin. (size 8 I think.) This of course will probably not happen, because this blogger hates muslin.

2. make the new rayon anda. (old pattern, new fabric its totally ridiculous- I dont even like the pattern that much and I've now set aside or bought 5 bits of fabric for it-it's too easy a pattern not to use, I guess.)

3. finish up those short pants of Diana Rupp's S.E.W. book---which I've been shamefully putting off since august.
4. design a Halloween costume. (one should always remember one's priorities!)

if time:
5. Make a coffee date dress-style top. (out of checkered tan and red.)or, if not enough fabric, then make a white coffee date dress out of this wrap dress i bought off some dude in Harlem (ill advised purchase made for BM 2007- never wore it)

6. print out and cut out JJ blouse! Its free on Burdastyle now!

look how great it is without ruffles, and in a simple fabric:
