Lining, lining

I didnt realize when I embarked upon my sewing adventures that lining would fill my dreams and nightmares.

Anyone else sick of lining?

I started making a cape- with lining and INTERLINING, no less. Aargh!

For all the lining-fearing out there, this basic video explains so much, and provides some support down that lonely, and slippery poly satin path. (and what a cute jacket she's making!)

Cant and paste this link- http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-2574640463807180215#

Here's a different link with similar information.

  1. Oh wow, lining and interlining a cape. I had nightmares with linin my first skirt. This thought sends me running in terror!

  2. I used to love lined garments, and every single skirt I sew had to be lined, until I moved to a beach town.

My first and only attempt to wear a lined skirt outdoors lasted 20 minutes. Now I consider myself a lining-free sewer :)

  3. Thanks for your thoughts on lining, Rita, and Daligula. Besites the basic construction fesars I have, I'm also having a bulk problem with lining...no so on the cape yet, but on past skirts- like the tweed one and the leopard print one. Is that a problem with my choice of materials (I used some kind of cotton for one, and some kind of cotton/poly blend for the other) or my construction method, you think?

  4. Mmm... I would say it's your choice of materials. I used to use polyester lining, known here as poliseda -poly-silk-, I don't know how it's called in english, but it's a very thin, slippery fabric.
I never had any bulk problem with it.
