Week goals

Hello out there in the Internets!

I had some sewing related excitement earlier this week, but that will require a post of its own, and pictures.

In the meantime, its Monday, so week goals it is. notably, many of these have not yet been seen...in with the new, out with the old, I say!

1. Secret project from brown linen! I may be able to finish this if I'm careful to not be seen!
2. cut fabric for a new dress idea for work- Marie plus coffee date dress! I have my eye on some camel and blue rayon from my stash.

I'm inspired by some great examples by Vivat Veritas.

To remind you, gentle readers, here's the Marie- I'm thinking of doing this in a dark camel that I thought i had to give up because its too close to my skin color.

Here's the CDD- I'm thinking of just using the top-and no ruffle, in navy-the same fabric used for the short pants. I would also add a band of that fabric to the bottom, to break up the monochromatic "same as my skin color" problem.

Issue one-the zipper is in the center back of the top, and the side for the skirt. hmmm.
Issue two-matching the waistline.I may have to take more in at the darts, or widen the waist, or lenghten the torso...I don't know yet.

3. Grade pattern for bias cut work shirt Its this simplicity pattern- i bought the wrong size, what can I say! This was a rookie mistake I thought I was beyond, but it *was* my first Joanne's 99c pattern sale. I think I got carried away...

I'll take it as a blessing in disguise-a chance to practice a necessary skill on a pattern without too many pieces.

I'm holding off on Diana Rupp's cape for now-for reasons that will be explained in my next post!

And lest you think I'm not doing any of my old projects,

4. get sleeves on that lady grey muslin-Every time I see Elizabeth's coat, I'm reminded of why I thought I could try out a coat as a beginner, but then I keep stopping anyway. (Elizabeth is less of a beginner than she thinks:)

I'm beginning to worry that its not just my skills but also an issue of the style of this coat- It might not be for me. But only sleeves will help me find out the truth of that fear.

5. Start sewing the JJ blouse. I don't know what is stopping me. Making a button-down work shirt is one of my main goals in sewing...maybe it's too much pressure. That and buttonholes....bleah.

(to remind you- there are going to be none of those ruffles, and I'll see what I can to do de-puff those sleeves.)
One seam is enough- I just have to get started.

Wish me luck on my week-it's time for me to get busy!
